Holiday closure bars most Palestinian workers from settlements through Sukkot

Defence Minister Israel Katz ordered a 'general closure' on the West Bank for Sukkot, which ended on Saturday 3 October, keeping Palestinian labourers out of settlements on the army's recommendation. 'Essential workers' could still enter industrial zones. About 9,000 Palestinians held permits to work in settlements or nearby industrial zones, per last year's data.
